Since I'm toying about with an old iBook someone gifted to me, and the best it can manage with OSX 10.3.9 is to run software from over 5 years ago without a very expensive upgrade to OSX 10.4.x (10.5 dropped G3 support), I decided to take the thing apart with a little help from iFixit's Mac Repair section. I feel significantly more competent should my father need another RAM upgrade on his new Mac laptop. I found out what they charge for their "certified Apple memory" at the Apple store he went to and it sounded a lot like righway hobbery. (In fairness, it's possible not all Apple stores or their employees have the moral compass of a raccoon. This may have been a uniquely evil bunch.)
Oh, and on a positive note. I love the detachable keyboard on this thing. If it weren't for the screws that still have to be removed to reach the RAM, it would be easier to upgrade than many PC laptops. (Right now, it's a tie.)
